The Casa Gamino is a festive Mexican restaurant and bar. A couple of black kids witnessed me touching Chad’s dick in the parking lot, so it really holds a special place in my heart.

After one drive-by “oh my god, we HAVE to go there”, Chad and I stopped in for after-work margaritas and pupusas. The entrance alone was enough to tantalize: a life-size cardboard cutout of Dos Equis’ Most Interesting Man in the World and front doors plastered with handbills advertising an upcoming ladies’ night. I could only hope there were some chubby little Mexican male strippers waiting for me on the other side of the door. The waitresses, buxom Latinas adorned in black and red polyester outfits reminiscent of prepackaged “sexy matador” Halloween costumes, greeted us with big smiles and broken English. After being seated at one of many vacant plastic picnic tables with folding chairs, we ordered our margaritas and started browsing the vast menu. We ended up ordering a spread of various fried delicacies, most of which remained on the plate when we left. The margaritas, on the other hand, were very strong in both taste and mass. I definitely intend to come back with a rowdy group of girlfriends for ladies’ night. ¡Ole!

Same situation as Bull Pen..I liked their sign. It’s pretty much your average Mexican restaurant and bar. My opinion on this one might be skewed based on the fact that I puked later that night and can still feel the sting of tortilla chips and crappy guacamole in my throat.

Back in the college days, El Palomar was THE place to grab a discount pitcher of margaritas. This was our first stop upon arriving in Santa Cruz during a vacation in August. I felt good and tipsy within 15 minutes.

Yolie's
138 W Main St
Ventura, CA 93001
Chad and I came across Yolie’s on a Saturday night; the neon sign and blasting of Robin Thicke's 'Blurred Lines' beckoned us. Someone must have been celebrating their birthday, because the banquet room was filled with people dressed in their finest poly-cotton blends. The bar area, on the other hand, was completely vacant, so we had no problem settling in on bar stools and ordering a pair of margaritas. The margaritas were big and boozy, just the way I like ‘em. Nobody bothered us, so we were free to drink, gorge on guacamole, and be mesmerized by the Pawn Stars marathon on TV in peace.
